Xavier Level 3 number problem.

 Some maths problems

Level 3

This task is about solving a number of maths problems.

a) At a beach volleyball game there are 154 people.  A bus brings 38 more people.
Show how to work out how many people are at the game altogether.



So there are 154 people and then A bus brings 38 more people.This is how I solve the answer.

Answer: 192.


b) At a kapa häka competition there are 357 children and 162 adults.

Show how to work out how many people are at the competition altogether.


There are 375 children + 162 adults. This is how I solve and answer. 

 


Answer: 519.


c) At a table tennis competition there are 326 players and 279 people in the crowd.

Show how to work out how many people are at the competition altogether.


 

So I would use addition for this question.                            Answer: 605.











d) A farmer has 736 sheep.  He buys 589 more sheep.  

Show how to work out how many sheep he has altogether.

If he had 736 sheep and brought 589 sheep he should have. 



 

Answer: 1, 325.
